Adjusting Height
STEPS
Move to the opposite side of the desk where the “knobs” for adjusting the desk height are located on the desk frame.
Put one foot on the base cross-bar and squat down in a kneeling-type position.
Use two hands to pull the ‘knobs’; then move them up or down to the desired standing desk height* and push them into the relevant knob holes. Users will see a small hole when they have adjusted the desks to the highest possible standing desk height.
Keep head clear of the desktop at all times. While all desks should be able to be adjusted by individual students, you can also encourage a buddy system where two students work together to help adjust each other’s desks.

What is the correct standing height?
Explain that each student may have a different standing desk height based on their own height. The correct standing desk height is about elbow height i.e. your elbows should be in a 90 degree position from the floor. If students use a laptop, they should align the keyboard with their elbow height. *For long term use of laptops at standing desks, schools might consider propping laptops up on a box/other platform so that screens are in line with students’ eyes; as well as using a portable keyboard at elbow height.
